Vintage shop - Vintage Virtu in Ross On Wye

Well here we go with the last 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) trading before Christmas. As allways we shall remain shut for the whole of January & reopening begining of February. Denise & I wish you a happy & safe Christmas & we look forward to seeing you next year.

I'm in Lamp mode at the moment. The first is a 1940s/50s child's nightlight. We got the shade with no guts in it at all, so I had to come up with a base & fitting & we couldn't find any info on it anywhere. The second lamp is a very simple treatment of an antique French cherub that was one of a pair that probably held a clock. Still got more to do...

First take a wallnut veneered mahogony headboard & footboard, stir in some Vintage Virtu immagination & top off with a solid wallnut headboard for the seat. Job done!

OPEN TOMORROW 10-4 Denise has been busy making and there's plenty of new stock for all to see & buy. See you tomorrow!

We seem to have a 'chair thing' going on! They are pretty cool though. Open Wednesday & the rest of the week 10 'til 4. And we still take CASH as well as cards!

Another very shabby chic chair done. New upholstered seat pad & Denise has worked her magic on the cartouche. And it's got metal legs.

Denise has worked hard today creating The Vintage Virtu Christmas Window. On to the next job.....

Lockdown? As you can see I've been at it again with a dressing table stool & a piano stool. Denise has been busy as well & you'll be able to see some of her hard work tomorrow when we've done our Christmas Window! Hopefully we'll see some of you December 3rd, BoJo permitting, until then call & collect as always.

Denise has been busy making & organising. Little treasures everywhere.....

I had the seats without any legs & we had a heavy base that had a round top on that wasn't moving. So a general repurposing was done & I had a metal frame for the other one. Different, that's for sure.

Didn't like the yellowish colour so I repainted it. Looks a lot better now.

Here's a nice collaboration. Denise hand painted the door on this cupboard which I made from scratch using the last pair of spare cupboard doors for the sides . On another front, Denise hopes to be back in the shop this week and mornings only so if you pop in you might just catch her. I know she'll be pleased to see you.

And still Denise continues to create beautifull things and here is her latest. She took one tired jewelry box and worked her magic. Me, I'm finishing off another cupboard from cupboard doors.

Denise would like to introduce you to Rex & Fifi. They're house trained & come with they're own kennels & don't eat much! She's also been busy creating this pretty little box. Meanwhile I've been busy repairing lamps for customers & I am just starting on the next project. Finally, we won't be open until lunchtime Thursday & Friday this week.

Take one 2 drawer cupboard & trim down to make a seat.

Repaired, re-upholstered & sold

Remember the Cupboard-door-cupboard was part1, well here's part2. Turned the remainder into..., well it's a seat. The back & sides have been clad with the centre panels from a pew. And I did a bit of upholstery as well.

This is Part 1 of an old cupboard with 2 drawers that I had plans for. Nothing particularly special about this, just 2 doors off of one cupboard & put them on another cupboard, simples...except the second cupboard has it's side & back made from 2 pairs of different doors. So you could call it a Cupboard door cupboard. Waste not want not!

Remember the old fire surround? Well I did say I knew what I was going to do with it & here it is. It's now an Art Deco inspired wine rack. And it's got concealed LED lighting! Turned out just as I had hoped. Nearly finished the next creation which is part 1 of 2 pieces made from 1 piece......
